Bus Transfers To and From Kona International Airport

Hele-On buses are operated by County of Hawai’i Mass Transit Agency and there are currently two routes servicing Kona Airport.

The bus stop at the airport is located in front of the terminal structure, next to the rideshare pick-up zone.

The route Pahala – Kona - South Kohala departs as follow:

• 5.40 AM Monday - Saturday, but not on County Observed Holidays in the direction Pahala – Kona - S. Kohala Resorts
• 7.15 AM Monday - Saturday in the direction S. Kohala Resorts – Kona - Pahala
• 8.00 AM Monday - Saturday in the direction Pahala – Kona – S. Kohala Resorts
• 2.30 PM Daily in the direction S. Kohala Resorts – Kona – Pahala

The route North Kohala (Kapaau) – Waimea – Waikoloa Village – Keauhou Shopping Center in Kailua-Kona departs as follows: The route does not serve Waimea on Saturdays.

• 6.45 AM Monday - Friday, but not on County Observed Holidays in the direction N. Kohala – Waimea – Waikoloa Village – Kailua-Kona
• 9.15 AM Saturday in the direction N- Kohala – Waikoloa Village – Kailua-Kona
• 1.35 PM Monday - Friday, but not on County Observed Holidays in the direction Kailua-Kona – Waikoloa Village – Waimea – N. Kohala
• 2.30 PM Saturday in the direction Kailua-Kona – Waikoloa Village – N. Kohala

Tickets

A one-way single ticket for an adult or person with no discount is $2.00 paid in cash only on the bus. The amount has to be in exact change as the bus operator or the fare box have no change.

Certain groups are valid for the discounted fare of $1.00, all which includes providing a valid ID for the purpose while children aged 4 and under travel for free.

There are no fees for baggage or pet carrier fees.

Hele-On has routes to several other places and areas of the Big Island and transfer from one route to another is free of charge within two hours of the issuing of the ticket.
